Part A of Medicare provides cover for various medically-necessary facilities, like short-term hospital stays, semi-private rooms, emergency services, hospital facilities and supplies, services of doctor or physician and prescribed medicines for your treatment. Some hospital services like chemotherapy, anesthesia and inpatient dialysis are also covered under Part A, if they are considered medically necessary. Nursing facility, home health care and hospice services are also included.
Part B of Medicare provides outpatient health care insurance to eligible citizens, which includes preventative services, services of doctor and other form of medically necessary outpatient services. Part B plan fills in some gaps of Part A, by providing cover for doctor services for outpatients and also for permitted medical supplies and equipment, when required. Some important preventive services covered by Part B include lab services, vaccinations, cardiovascular examinations and diabetes screenings.
Part C of Medicare is an Advantage Plan, which is managed by private insurance providers, approved by Medicare. Part C combines both Part A and B plans and in certain situations, it also includes Part D prescription drug plan. Advantage plans include additional important medical services such as dental, hearing and vision care.
Part D of Medicare provides assistance in the coverage of prescription medications for eligible people. This plan is considered as very important to individuals of all ages, as drugs can prove to be very expensive during the course of treatment. Drug coverage plan may help in the prevention of future expenses.
